Snow Day!

On Friday Tyler's school had snow day. Usually they do not let siblings participate but since Tyler has a small class there was an exception. That meant that Tanner got to practice liking the cold! They had a little hill the kids got to ride down and they threw snow (read: ice) balls at each other. It was a fun time and snow is definitely something we don't experience any of here in San Diego!

A first hand lesson on why you shouldn't drink and drive

We were driving home on Sunday from the beach and we saw a geyser of water. We decided to check it out and walked right in to a crazy scene. An intoxicated male and his girlfriend were going way too fast in their truck, went through a stop sign and ran right in to a car. The cars had spun around and took out a fire hydrant. The truck ended up hitting the front of someone's house. Apparently the driver and his girlfriend tried to switch spots so he didn't get in trouble for drunk driving but the police caught them. The woman driving the car is the mother of one of Chad's students. They took her away in an ambulance but from what we heard it sounds like she will be okay. I think drinking and driving is so selfish and these people are lucky that they came out of this okay.

Rain is gone (for now)

The sun is back so we headed to the beach yesterday to walk the pier and play on the rocks and at the play area. Our boys love to do anything outside so we always enjoy our time outdoors and especially when we are all together. The boys definitely appreciated getting outside after being cooped inside for most of the week due to the stormy weather. They better enjoy because apparently we are getting more rain this week!

Rainy, Stormy San Diego

These past few days have been crazy here in San Diego. In fact, there was a tornado warning earlier today. Crazy wind, downpouring rain. Needless to say, San Diego shuts down and it becomes STORM WATCH 2010. I love it! Tyler couldn't stand it any longer and yesterday after our friends left he made us all put on our rain clothes and head outside. Tanner had a blast this time around and we had to drag them inside after a while, soaking wet from head to toe. Fun times!

Twas the Night Before Christmas

I love Christmas Eve with my family. We have always had strong traditions that started when I was a baby and we still do every year. Christmas Eve always starts with going out to a Chinese dinner (since moving to Corvallis it has been at Pings). Then we drive around and look at Christmas lights. After that we go home and gather around and sing Christmas carols and read the Christmas story out of the big family Bible. This year we sang and read around the fire outside. And dad used to read us Twas the Night Before Christmas. Now he gets to read it to his grandkids. I loved the magic of Christmas Eve and Christmas morning as a child and it was so fun to see it through my children's eyes this year!

Cookie Decorating

It is a yearly tradition the kids are beginning to love. Mom makes sugar dough and we all get to decorate our own (very large) cookie. I think the kids may have been more interested in eating the toppings this year! I never did try my finished cookie!

Sweet baby Ellyse

It always makes me a little sad that I don't get to see my sweet nieces as often as I would like. So, I have to settle for the visits which I find too far apart! This was the first time Chad got to meet Elly and I hadn't seen her for a couple of months. She has grown a ton but is still so small compared to my kiddos. I love her and can't wait to watch her grow!
